Spartans end regular season with win

Twenty steals helped offset a cold shooting night.

VINTON– Solon’s varsity boys basketball team ended the regular season with a 48-33 road win against Vinton-Shellsburg Thursday, Feb. 15.
The victory improved the Spartans to 14-7 on the season, and dropped the Vikings to 5-16.
Solon shot well below its season average offensively, but made up for it with disrupting the Viking defense.
“Even though we might not have shot the ball well, there were still some easy baskets in there, off those steals,” Solon Head Coach Jason Pershing said. “And then it’s also that they’re just not very comfortable making passes or running their offense.”
