CCA holds informational meetings ahead of $36 million vote

By Chris Umscheid
North Liberty Leader
TIFFIN– Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Superintendent Tim Kuehl walked a tightrope Thursday, July 13, at Tiffin Elementary in one of several informational meetings built around getting upcoming bond information out to the district’s patrons.
While state law forbids the district’s administrators and school board of directors from actively advocating for yes votes, they are able to walk the fine line, as Kuehl did, between informing and campaigning.

Conserving the heart of Tiffin

Consultant presents council members with an opportunity

TIFFIN– It could be dubbed Potterfield Park, if the City of Tiffin can procure the land in time.
At a Tiffin City Council work session Tuesday, July 18, a consultant explained a one-of-a-kind chance for the city: the acquisition of 11.13 acres for a future nature area.
“It’s pretty black and white that it should be a park,” said Sandy Steil, land planning and development consultant at Steil Consulting LLC.
Steil, a member of the Bur Oak Land Trust’s board of directors and its land acquisition committee, said she’s never seen a property so well maintained.

July was very busy, hosting two days of entertainment. Both were great and promise to return.

• Bingo is most Tuesdays and Thursdays. At 11 a.m. is penny bingo and, following lunch, play is for prizes culminating with a black out final game for a free Old Gold Dinner meal ticket. The second Tuesday of the month there is no afternoon bingo.

Riding high

You could hear Makayla Keller of Solon screaming a block away from the Rock Star ride at Solon Beef Days Saturday, July 22. Keller was among the throng of people who took to carnival rides, participated in contests like the bean bag tournament and the hay bale toss, or took in the free entertainment at the 2017 edition of Solon’s annual summer event. Look for parade photos and more in next week’s edition. (photo by Doug Lindner)
