Change is coming to Tiffin council

TIFFIN– Voters in Tiffin will decide more than who will be the President of the United States or who their representatives will be in Washington D.C. and Des Moines when they vote in November. They will also have two seats to fill on the Tiffin City Council.
Councilmen Chris Ball and Travis Weipert will resign this month, putting their seats on the Nov. 6 ballot.
Ball, who has served for four years, has accepted the position of City Administrator in Wilton, Iowa. Ball was a social studies teacher at the Clear Creek Amana high school.

The bank opened its doors to the North Liberty community on June 18, at 655 Community Dr., just off Highway 965.

Telling the story of Sutliff Bridge

KENT PARK– Did you know a ferry preceded the bridge at Sutliff? What do you know about the Cedar River? Would you believe Sutliff once consisted of more than just Baxa’s Tavern? What makes a truss bridge a “Parker” truss?
Answers to these questions and more may soon be found on interpretive panels placed along the historic Sutliff Bridge, currently undergoing reconstruction in the wake of the 2008 flood.

Families get help with back-to-school readiness at Penn “Servolution” Aug. 13

NORTH LIBERTY– Inspired by community members and with a mission to get local kids on track for a productive school year, a “Servolution” is coming to North Liberty.
But it won’t work without your help.
The Aug. 13 Servolution at Penn Elementary was created by Adam Kolosik, as part of his Love Wins Ministry at Life Church, and was made possible by Kris Hynek of the North Liberty Family Resource Center (NLFRC) at Penn.
What’s a Servolution? What does it mean?
It’s a revolution of service, according Kolosik, a pastor at Life Church, who said, “Mission is why we exist; love is how we do it.”
