Robert C. Plank, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital after a short illness. Services with military rites were held Aug. 17 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial was Aug. 19 at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Oshkosh, Wis.
Local survivors include grandson Michael Biederman of North Liberty.

Patrick Warren Marzen, 44, of North Liberty, died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011. Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City, with Father John Spiegel officiating.


Paul Montague

Paul R. Montague, 64, passed away at his home in Swisher, surrounded by family and friends, on Saturday, Aug. 13, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.
Paul was born March 18, 1947, in Santa Monica, Calif., the son of William Montague and Vivian Chase. He most enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, Cindy, whom he married on Nov. 26, 2007, in Hilo, Hawaii.


Garry Kuch

Garry L. Kuch, 70, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a sudden illness. Funeral services were held Aug. 17 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown, with Pastor David Rempfer officiating. Burial was at Marengo Cemetery.


Marjorie Krug

Marjorie Ann Krug, 84, of Garrison, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center. Funeral services were held Aug. 15 at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton, with the Rev. Lanette Sue Van officiating. Interment was in Garrison Cemetery.


Daniel Klaren

Daniel J. “Bucko” Klaren, 54, of Dyersville, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville, with his family at his side. The Dyersville Fire Department gathered at Kramer Funeral Home on Aug. 18, and funeral services were held Aug. 19 at St. Francis Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery.


Marguerite Kinkead

Marguerite Ruth Pettigrew Kinkead, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Aug. 13, 2011, at Keystone Cedars. Memorial services were held Aug. 17 at Echo Hill Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bill Warhover officiating.
Local survivors include granddaughter Sarah (Steven) Davis, North Liberty.


Rayma Deskin

Rayma Deskin, 76, of Solon, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids. Services were held Aug. 17 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Wendy “Ranae” Drahos of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Laura) Deskin of Claremore, Okla., Ray Deskin of Cedar Rapids, Lyle Deskin of Port Arthur, Texas, and Terry Deskin and Steven Deskin, both of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Virginia (Larken) Derks of New Port Richey, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.


Donna Brus

Donna Brus, 59, of North Liberty, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at her home following a long battle with lung cancer. Funeral services were held Aug. 17 at Brosh Chapel in Solon. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.


Thomas L. Bowen

Thomas L. Bowen, M. D., 72, formerly of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at his home in Solon, surrounded by his family.
Tom was born July 4, 1939, to Mildred and Kenneth Bowen of Oskaloosa.  He married Judy M. Slay on July 29, 1961, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa.  Tom and Judy celebrated their 50th anniversary with family in Hannibal, Mo., in July of this year.
