School pictures Friday, Sept. 23

Individual school pictures will be taken at a later date of Friday, Sept. 23, by Lifetouch Photography.  Several package options are available through a prepayment-money back guaranteed plan.  Complete information will be distributed. All checks must be made payable to Lifetouch Photography.


Juniors and parents

Each year the Junior Class sponsors Solon High School’s Prom.  As a part of this event, you are required to either work a shift at the Junior class concession stand (behind the home bleachers underneath the crows nest) for a home football game or pay $25 in class dues.  If you are unable to work (due to football, band, cheerleading, etc.) you can have a parent, sibling or friend work for you to avoid paying the $25.  Sign up with Mr. Koza in rm.


Lakeview PTO

All meetings will be held in the Lakeview Media Center beginning at 7 p.m. and childcare will be provided. We hope you will join us as we plan activities to benefit Lakeview children and staff.

Senior citizen pass

Residents of the school district who are 65-years of age or older may receive lifetime passes to all school events (with the exception of tournaments).  If you are eligible for the pass, please contact the high school activities office.

Recently added to the library’s DVD collection:
“Mars Needs Moms” (2011, PG) Animated story about a young boy named Milo who gains a deeper appreciation for his mom after Martians come to Earth to take her away.
“Your Highness” (2011, R) Comedy/Adventure.  When Prince Fabious’ (James Franco) bride is kidnapped, he goes on a quest to rescue her... accompanied by his lazy useless brother Thadeous (Danny McBride).  Also stars Natalie Portman.

“Cold Vengeance” by Preston & Child is in the Special Agent Pendergast series. As Pendergast digs into his murdered wife’s past to seek out her killers, he learns that the conspiracy runs deep and goes back generations as he chases her betrayers from Scotland through New York and into Louisiana.


Book Club selection

The book club will resume meeting on the third Tuesday of every month beginning Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. The book club is open to any interested adult readers. The selection for September is “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon. Call the library at 624-2678 to reserve a copy and get to reading. It’s a thick book- 850 pages in fact, but it’s a fast read about Claire Randall, a young combat nurse in World War II. “Outlander” is historical fiction at its finest. It’s the first in a series so once you’ve devoured this one; you’ll want to have the next three books handy.


Young patron age guidelines

With school starting again, there are lots of kids coming to the library after school, especially on the early out days. Just as a reminder to parents, the policy is being printed again at the beginning of this school year. If the students are attending a library program, the time restrictions do not count, but once the program is over, the policy is enforced.
The library has adopted the following guidelines for young patrons wishing to spend time in the library without the accompaniment of their parent or guardian.


Early-out program revised

The library will resume its early-out programming this school year with a few revisions. This year, there will be no registration required, each program will be open to all age groups and students will not be escorted by library staff from the school to the library. Programming will begin after lunch at 1:15 p.m.


The melody lingers on

The week of celebrating the library’s 10th anniversary is over and all the afterglow, kudos and winners will be listed next week. The party is over but the melody lingers on with a couple of attractions.
