Dean Coglan

Dean E. Coglan, 85, of North Liberty, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, under the care of Mercy Hospice in Iowa City.
A time of gathering for family and friends to celebrate Dean’s life was held Nov. 5 at the West Liberty Country Club. A private family committal service was held at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Iowa City Hospice or Mercy Hospice. Beer, coke, coal and potatoes

Even though we started the day using socks for gloves because of the mountain cold, we arrived in Connellsville about 5 p.m. hot and tired. Before finding our lodgings, we stopped at the Mile Marker Lounge for a beer.


Food For Thought

Until I graduated from high school, I was quite unaware of college sports, professional teams, and such things as college bowl games. About the only sport I was aware of, besides my own hometown football and basketball teams, was the World Series, and that was only because the teachers, as well as many of the students, in my high school insisted on having a radio playing in the study hall and broadcasting those games that were being played on school days.
