West High Trojans stay on top

IOWA CITY– Just before the West High Trojans took the field Friday night, the cheerleaders stretched a banner across their path reading “we’re staying unbeaten.”
The Trojans not only blasted through the banner, they made good on the statement, wrecking visiting Dubuque Senior’s vision of a perfect season with a 42-7 stomping.
West moved to a perfect 5-0 (and the top of the MVC Mississippi Division) while the Rams moved to 4-1.
The game could’ve been called “The Ezra Reiners Show,” as the senior put up three touchdowns and led the ground war with 159 yards of rushing.

In the third set, the Creek Girls held leads of 10-5 and 19-9 before a late Raider rally. The Clippers held-on for the 25-17 win.
