But it still needs a parking lot.
Diverting budgeted funds to pay for parks and recreation projects and paving the city hall parking lot were discussed, along with a report on an addition to the fire station.
The meeting began with a moment of silence in remembrance of North Liberty Mayor Tom Salm, who died suddenly on Sunday, May 18.

Solon boys take team title at state track meet

A big dose of Connor Ham (above, winning his heat in the 200-meter dash) and huge throws from Dalton Ferguson pushed Solon’s boys to the Class 3A state track meet title.
Ham won two individual events and anchored two relays to second and third place during the May 22-24 State Coed Track meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Ferguson won the shot put and took fourth in the discus to add to the Spartans’ 50 point total, a winning margin of 7 3/4 over Center Point-Urbana in the team race.
Turn to Section B for results.

Successful season?

Hawk Talk

By Don Lund
Sports Writer

When you look back at the men’s basketball season and you see the Hawks won 20 games, finished 9-9 in the Big Ten and were ranked as high as 10th in the nation, you would have to say that’s not a bad season.
They also beat Ohio State when they were ranked third in the nation, beat Michigan when they were ranked 10th and made it to the NCAA tournament for the first time in a while.
All that says Iowa had a successful year, but when the Hawks lost seven of their last eight games it took the glitter off the season.
