Council moves on original town urbanization project

“Old Tiffin” to get a facelift

TIFFIN– Tiffin City Council member Jim Bartels remembers early discussions regarding the modernization of “Old Tiffin”– the four-by-three block area south of Highway 6, home to College, Grant and Summeryhays streets.
“Ten to 15 years ago, all we did was talk about it,” said Bartels. “We didn’t even have a plan.”
The council has come a long way since then.

DES MOINES– A little frustration– some high points, too– and the Solon crowd going wild in the last event of the weekend. They all marked the 2017 girls Class 3A state track meet in Des Moines.
With 11 entries in 10 different events, the Lady Spartans had a lot to look forward to coming out of the regional qualifying meet. As is usually the case, getting there is job number one. There are girls from 63 other schools out to prove themselves, too.

DES MOINES– The Spartans traveled to the Blue Oval on Thursday, May 18, to battle more than just the competition in Des Moines at Drake Stadium during the 2017 Iowa State Track and Field Meet.
A dour sky, chill temperatures and strong wind gusts combined with a nagging rain to plague the first two days of the state championship competition. The event lasted three days and when the clouds finally parted on Saturday, May 20, the Spartans emerged among the finest the State of Iowa had to offer in class 3A competition.
