Three more for soccer girls

SOLON– Solon girls soccer had another busy, but successful week.  They opened on Tuesday, May 17, at home against a very good and very physical Center Point-Urbana team.  Early in the first half, Alison McKinnie sent a perfect long pass to Danielle Herdliska.  Herdliska sent the ball flying into the goal off her head.  Later in the half it was Herdliska who placed a great pass to Tori Takes, who bounced it in with her upper body.  In the second half, Erica Singkofer hit a beautiful high kick that sailed into the goal well above the keeper’s head.

Petition will seek new form of council representation

NORTH LIBERTY– It’s not exactly a remake of 2007, but the storyline is very similar.
A petition has been circulating within North Liberty to force a vote for a new form of representation within the city government.
The document calls for the council to hold a vote on whether or not to change to a ward system of representation. Under this plan, North Liberty would be split into equal-population wards, and the registered voters in each ward would elect one resident from that ward to serve on the city council.

The price of protection

NORTH LIBERTY — As the population of North Liberty has continued to grow, so too has the size of the police department. What hasn’t grown, according to the officers, are their paychecks.
But, with a new union labor agreement, the officers will see their pay increase to levels comparable with their law enforcement brothers and sisters in the Corridor.
