Iowa football schedule: Part two

Hawk Talk

This is the second part of a two-part story on the Iowa Hawkeye 2016 football schedule.
Last week I took the first six games; Miami (Ohio), Iowa State, North Dakota State, Northwestern, Minnesota and Purdue.
I believe that Iowa should be favored in all six games.
This week I’ll look at the final six games.

Oct. 22: Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers are coming off a 10-3 (6-2 in the Big Ten) season which included a 23-21 bowl win over USC.

Closet skeleton

Walkin'

I got especially nervous after we joined the church across the street about the pile of $100 bills in the closet of the bedroom at home that doubles as my office.

The mother of invention

Food For Thought

It has been said that necessity is the mother of invention. I rather suspect that the invention quite often comes first and then, through fate, fad, or fashion, it becomes elevated to the status of a necessity.

Trojans’ luck runs out

Prairie hands West its fifth state runner-up trophy

DES MOINES– The West High Trojans entered the 2016 Class 4A State Baseball Tournament as the No. 2 seed and with hopes of earning their first championship in the school’s 11th appearance in Des Moines.
However, a six-run inning by the Hawks of Cedar Rapids Prairie in the title game dashed those hopes and led to West’s third consecutive runner-up trophy and its fifth overall since 2009.

Statewide average rainfall almost twice the normal average

DES MOINES—Recent rains improved groundwater levels across Iowa, while the National Drought Monitor shows about a third of the state is still rated as abnormally dry. Heavy rains fell on July 19 will be reflected in the next update.
Substantial rainfall during July improved shallow groundwater conditions in central Iowa and most of southeast Iowa from slight drought to normal. A small region of southeast Iowa continues to be in slight drought conditions. Shallow groundwater levels in most of northwest, southwest and northeast Iowa continue to be above normal for July.
