Hawkeye women road trip

Hawk Talk

The Hawkeye women had two road basketball games last week, beating Wisconsin, 57-54, and then losing 80-73 at Michigan State.
The win over the Badgers was big for two reasons.
First it snapped a two-game losing streak and any time you can pick up a road win in the Big Ten it’s a good thing for team rankings.
This was another one of those games where Iowa jumped out to a big lead of 16 points at the end of the third quarter, got outscored 19-6 in the fourth quarter, but held on to win.

Sweating in Florida

As you read this, we should be in Florida.

What’s that you say?

Food For Thought

Someone on television keeps telling me they have warned me about the dangers of smoke detectors and sleeping children. Really? I didn’t realize smoke detectors were dangerous. And, I’ve never in my entire life seen a sleeping child who posed a threat of any kind. Someone most certainly wasn’t paying attention in eighth grade English class when Mrs. Cotter pointed out the careful choice of words and proper punctuation are essential to clarity in both speech and the written word, and the sort of sloppiness used in announcements leads to ambiguity, confusion and misunderstanding.
