SOLON– The Spartans have started the season on the right foot.
Solon’s varsity boys have opened the season 3-0, including a home win against the No. 1 ranked team in 1A, Waterloo Columbus.
According to head coach Jeremy McMurrin, the Spartans have moved up a class this season and are ranked No. 14 in Class 2A.
After a scoreless scrimmage against Cedar Rapids Xavier at the Cedar Rapids Washington Soccer Jamboree, the Spartans opened the season at home with a 2-1 win over No. 9 Iowa Mennonite April 1. Nick Brown and Brandan Childs scored goals for Solon, with an assist to Chase Gross.
