Food For Thought

I always found it pure agony to come up with anything approaching the perfect gift for my husband. For starters, if he really wanted something we could afford, he had probably already gone out and bought it for himself. If he couldn’t afford it, you can be darn sure I wasn’t about to ask for the money to buy it for him. Material things are easy enough to think of– the stores are full of gadgets and goodies that men want– just watch him sometime as he gets near the sale bin at the hardware store.

Walkin'

We have another houseguest this week.
Gretel comes to us via Wal-Mart, where a mechanic in the auto services department found her hiding in the engine compartment of a customer’s car. When the owners of the vehicle returned they were given a bill for an oil change, which they were expecting, and Gretel, which they weren’t.

Hawk Talk

Hawkeye women lose
The three-point line came into play in the 1980s and it has made the game a lot more exciting with more scoring.
The Bradley Braves took 3-point shooting to a new level last Saturday knocking down 13-22 threes and beating the Hawkeyes, 96-88.
That’s 59 percent shooting! Teams will go a whole season and not shot 59% from the floor let alone from three-point range.
Kelsey Budd led the way going 12-14 from the floor, including 5-6 from three-point land.
Kelsey’s previous career high was 12 points… wow!
