Hawkeye women finish strong

IOWA CITY– Do you believe in miracles?
It might not have been as big as the US hockey win over Russia in the 1980 Olympics, but for the Hawkeye women to start out 1-6, last in the Big Ten, and then to finish 9-2 has to be one of the best turnarounds in recent history.
Iowa’s 68-60 overtime win at Wisconsin last Sunday gave the Hawks a 17-10 record, 10-8 in the Big Ten which will give them the third place seed in the Big Ten tournament this weekend.

Hawk men also win last home game

IOWA CITY– Iowa finished their home stand with a 73-57 win over Indiana last Sunday but lost to Northwestern at Evanston.
I don’t know what to say about the men’s 74-57 loss to the Wildcats last Thursday.
In Iowa’s first game against the 'Cats in Iowa City they might have played their best game of the year.
The Hawks jumped out to a 35-22 lead at half and won 78-65.
Iowa shot 50 percent from the floor, 50 percent from 3-point range, won the rebound battle, 36-28, and had four players in double-figures.

Guest Opinion from the Iowa State Senate

During these tough economic times, everybody is cutting back and doing more with less.
That’s why it was shocking to learn that Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield is demanding an 18-percent insurance rate hike. More than 80,000 Iowans would be hit.
Iowa families can’t afford these outrageous insurance premium increases, and they deserve to know if it is justified.
