NORTH LIBERTY- Plans are in place for a new 80-unit senior residential facility in North Liberty.
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, the North Liberty City Council approved a final plan presented by RCA North Liberty Living Center for the building to be built on 4 acres of land off Ashley Court in North Liberty.
Each of the building's levels will contain 38,113 sq. ft. of space, and because it will be three stories high, North Liberty City Planner described it as a "landmark building"
"There is far and away more masonry planned for this building than is required by city code," said Wheatley. "We encouraged the developer early on that it was something we were interested in. We were striving for this look of a significant construction"
The project will be a non-assisted living facility for seniors. Across from the property is a 3-acres wetland, with a planned pedestrian trail or sidewalk to be installed through the wetland area by the developers.
The only question from the council was posed by Chris Hoffman, who asked why food delivery would be made through the front doors.
"There are doors on both sides and in the back and deliveries could be done from any door," replied Paul Anderson of MMS Consultants, but because this will be a residential facility and not an assisted living facility, there will be no commercial food deliveries and any food coming in would likely be personal groceries for individual tenants, clarified RCA's Richard Adams.
The residential site plan was unanimously approved.
