IOWA CITY- Eight was almost enough for the Hawkeyes as they led Ohio State for most of the game but as usual, they didn't get many calls down the stretch and they lost to the Buckeyes, 66-64, in the Big Ten Championship game Sunday afternoon.
A blocking foul was called with 1.9 seconds left and normally the referee swallows the whistle. They sure did that in the first half when one of the Buckeyes cussed at a ref twice after she got called for just a foul, no technical.
I'll tell you what, what a great run and congratulations to Kachine Alexander, Kamille Wahlin and Kelly Krei for being named on the All-Tournament team.
Eight players carried the Hawkeyes the second half of the season and all will be back next year, plus Hannah Draxton and Theairra Taylor.
Joann Hamlin also could return, if the NCAA makes the right move and gives her an extra year.
Iowa has one recruit coming in and she helped lead her team to state.
Jade Rogers is a 5-11 forward from Cedar Rapids Kennedy who will probably play the three position.
