Bernice "Bea" Marie Kohl, 87, a resident of Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids, died there Friday, Feb. 26, 2010. Services were held Tuesday, March 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Parnell. Visitation was March 1 at the funeral home.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Nancy) Kohl of Solon and Robert (Deborah) Kohl of Williamsburg, Va.; grandchildren, Rebecca (Chuck) Culley, Jeff (Diane) Kohl, John Henry Kohl and Jennifer (David) Gardner; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; brother, Richard Wombacher; and sister, LaVerne Dressler.
Born Jan. 30, 1923, in Iowa City, Bea was the daughter of Giles and Irene (Pelzer) Wombacher. On Nov. 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to John Kohl. He died in 2002. Bea was a cook at Jack's A & W Rootbeer Stand, Oelwein Middle School and Kirkwood Community College, worked on the assembly line at Rockwell Collins and was a motel manager for Howard Johnson's in Henderson, N.C.
