NORTH LIBERTY- On Saturday, Oct. 17, the First United Methodist Church of North Liberty held its third "Three Hours to Make a Difference" volunteer event. About 50 volunteers registered to work in one of two three-hour sessions in the day, helping community members with yard work were unable to complete these tasks by themselves.
During the day, volunteers tackled tasks such as tidying up gardens, window covering, winterizing, putting up gutter guards and other basic yard work. Organizer Bev Byram said the number of volunteers was down slightly this year compared to last year, as last year 100 volunteers showed up for the event.

"I don't think appreciate is a strong enough word," said Vernon about the volunteers. "I'm indebted to them"
