Frustration plagues Clipper girls

Fouls, free throws, turnovers help Beckman sink CCA

TIFFIN– Before Saturday night’s varsity match between the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers and the Dyersville Beckman Blazers, Clipper coach Matt Haas said he thought having the previous night off (the CCA-Western Dubuque game was postponed due to icy roads) would benefit his team.
After the 45-40 loss to the Blazers, a frustrated and upset Haas summed up the game.

Adjustments for (almost) all of God’s creatures

Dr. Helen Beck, one of a growing number of animal chiropractors

RURAL SOLON– As you pull into the driveway of Jake and Helen Beck’s home, a pair of horses trot over to the fence to look you over.
It’s no surprise the equines are there. Horses have been a large part of Helen’s life, and now they make up most of her veterinary practice.
Helen Beck, DVM, provides veterinary care, primarily to horses. She’s also one of a growing number of animal chiropractors providing adjustments to traditional family pets such as dogs and cats, with the background and knowledge to care for almost any of God’s creatures, great or small.

Clippers pick up a win from Vinton-Shellsburg

TIFFIN– Nile Rourke summed it up very succinctly.
“It feels good to start the New Year off right.”
The junior was talking about his Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers’ 55-44 win Thursday night (Jan. 2) at home against the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings. The win improved the squad’s record to 3-5 and took away some of the sting of a pre-Christmas loss to West Branch. “It was good to be in control and to keep it for the whole game. We’ve had trouble finishing games, so it’s about time we played a full game and finished and won a game,” Rourke said.

Clipper girls one and one

Clipper girls 10 points better than Independence

TIFFIN– The ship is back on an even keel. After a season-opening loss to Center Point-Urbana, the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity girls battled the Mustangs of Independence for a 67-57 win Tuesday, Dec. 3, at home.
The Clippers took an early lead with a Kelsey Hall 3-pointer and led 11-2 before an end-of-the-first period rally by the Mustangs narrowed the gap to 11-8 in favor of CCA.
Emily Wieland opened the second period for CCA by scoring on a rebound, Molly Villhauer added a pair of baskets and Lauren Stopko nailed a 3-pointer. The Clippers enjoyed a 27-22 lead at the half.

One step forward, one step back

CCA boys beat Independence, fall to Marion

TIFFIN– For 30 minutes, it was a pretty good ball game for the Clippers Friday, Dec. 6, in Tiffin asClear Creek Amana (CCA) took on the Marion Indians in a varsity matchup, leading for most of the game. The ending however, was a different story.

The price of freedom

HCS students learn about sacrifice on Veterans Day

NORTH LIBERTY– Some people may see the phrase, “freedom is not free” as a cliché. For Michael Annis, the administrator of the Heritage Christian School in North Liberty, it is more of an understatement.
The school hosted it’s annual Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, Nov. 11, with veterans honored and thanked for their service through musical and video tributes as well as words of appreciation from Annis and a personal thank-you from every student in the building.
