Ram-bunctious

West High splits with Dubuque Senior softball

IOWA CITY– The night ended in a draw, but the Women of Troy still had reason to celebrate Tuesday, July 2. The Rams of Dubuque Senior visited for a varsity doubleheader and brought a 25-5 record overall and 16-4 Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) record. West was 17-17 and 14-8 in contrast. The Rams were also ranked fourth in Class 5A while the Women of Troy were unranked.
So when West pulled off a 6-2 upset win in game one, some dugout dancing during game two could certainly be understood.

Clippers and Cardinals end in doubleheader split

TIFFIN– Brent Henry’s Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers suffered a 9-2 loss to the Maquoketa Cardinals Friday, July 5 on the home diamond, but rallied back to win the nightcap 6-5 in a WaMaC varsity doubleheader.

A Raffensperger home run opens game two for West baseball

IOWA CITY– A two-run homer by Devin Raffensperger gave the West High Trojans a 2-0 lead in the second game of a varsity doubleheader Monday, July 1, at home against Dubuque Senior.

How about a little KISS ?

This hard rockin’ dude with all the hair is none other than North Liberty City Council member Terry Donahue, dressed to resemble a Kiss band member. Donahue and other members of the North Liberty Centennial Committee donned costumes and makeup for the North Liberty Fun Days parade on Friday, June 14, to promote the upcoming Hairball concert and other centennial celebration festivities scheduled for July 12-13. Proud to be part of NL’s Garner Elementary School

NORTH LIBERTY– School is out of session and summer is in full swing, but back-to-school preparation has already started for some.
Educator Nick Proud, the new principal at Garner Elementary School in North Liberty, has been working tirelessly over the last weeks to get ready for the upcoming school year– his first year as a principal.
Proud’s daughter, Ainsley, is starting a first of her own this year as she enters kindergarten at Garner Elementary.
“It’s both of our first day at school at Garner this fall. We’re excited about that,” Proud said.
