NLYBS seeking donations for Penn Meadows Park improvements

NORTH LIBERTY– For 23 years, North Liberty children have been learning good sportsmanship, respect for authority and teamwork while having fun playing ball at Penn Meadows Park. This spring, 924 kids had the opportunity to continue this North Liberty tradition. However, the facilities at the park are in need of a long overdue update and expansion.
Plans for the new facility include two seven-stall restrooms, an expanded built-in concession stand and a covered picnic area. The North Liberty Youth Baseball and Softball (NLYBS) still needs to raise 60 percent of the funds.

Garner Elementary girls run toward success

NL school holds 2015 Girls on the Run program

NORTH LIBERTY– For girls who participate in the after-school program Girls on the Run, running is more than just a way to encourage healthy habits.
It’s a way to encourage a healthy sense of self-worth.

She recalled one student who came into the program with extremely low self-confidence. When given a compliment, she would respond self-deprecatingly and had difficulty interacting with the other girls and her coaches.
