WASHINGTON– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) girls track and field team placed fourth Thursday, April 20, at Washington’s 43rd annual girls meet. Benton Community won the meet with 139 team points, followed by Mount Pleasant (122), the host Demons (101), the Creek Girls (88), Fort Madison (69) and Albia (60).

TIFFIN– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) varsity boys soccer team picked up a pair of wins Tuesday, April 18, and Thursday, April 20, against Benton Community and Center Point-Urbana (CP-U).
The action started in Van Horne with a 1-0 win over the Bobcats. A scoreless first half led to a Wyatt Sedlacek ball connecting with Mitch Evans. Evans blew past the Benton Community keeper for the goal.

WILLIAMSBURG– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) varsity girls golf team placed third in a four-team field Monday, April 17, at Williamsburg’s quad meet. Vinton-Shellsburg won the meet with a total score of 190, followed by the host Raiders (192), the Clippers (218) and Marion (224).
Allison Greathouse led the Creek Girls with a 51, followed by Emma Davis (52), Sheyanne Koethe (56), Payton Beckler (59), Thea Clennon (60) and Emily Greathouse (63).

Spring Cleanup Day Saturday, April 29

NORTH LIBERTY– Spring Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 29, from 7-11:30 a.m. is for residents of North Liberty only. Please be prepared to verify that you are a North Liberty resident with a water bill stub or driver’s license. North Liberty residents pay 30¢ each month on their recycling bill for this service.
Miscellaneous large items are to be brought to the Public Works Facility, 620 Calvin St.
Assistance will be provided to the elderly or handicapped. Please call City Hall (319-626-5700) by April 27 to make arrangements.

Library fundraiser and 2K walk April 23

NORTH LIBERTY– It’s all about the bump. The North Liberty Community Library invites community members to participate in its first Waddle Walk on Sunday, April 23, at 1 p.m., starting at the library and continuing along the trail around Liberty Centre Pond.
This 2K walk is a fundraiser to support the library’s Read to the Bump program, which helps build a baby’s personal library before birth by purchasing board books to give to expecting families. The program is currently offered at the North Liberty Community Pantry.

Quail Creek tournament April 23

NORTH LIBERTY– Quail Creek Golf Course is hosting its first ever Big Cup Tournament to be held in the spring. The 18-hole, four-person best shot with 8-inch cups tournament is Sunday, April 23, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 700 Club House Rd.
The cost is $55 per player ($35 for members) or $220 for a foursome and includes a cart, fees, tournament entry and entry into pin events. Space is limited and only paid entrants will be guaranteed carts. Call the clubhouse at 319-626-2281 to reserve your spot.

Annual golf tournament May 5 to benefit pantry

NORTH LIBERTY– Dust off the clubs and join the North Liberty Community Pantry for its 7th Annual 4-Person Best Shot Golf Tournament on Friday, May 5, at Brown Deer Golf Club, 1900 Country Club Dr. in Coralville.
Check-in is 7:30-8:30 a.m., with a tee time of 9 a.m. Team registration is $450 and includes continental breakfast, green fees, carts, catered lunch, driving range balls and team pictures for each player. During the tournament there will be a silent auction. Awards and lunch will be served immediately following the tournament.

TIFFIN– Clear Creek Amana (CCA)’s varsity boys soccer team improved to a 4-1 record with its fourth consecutive win Thursday, April 13, at home against the South Tama Trojans.
Christian Romero put the Clippers on the board with a rebound goal just inside the 16th minute while Tyreke Williams booted his second long-range free kick of the week to Nick Ritchie for a header into the goal and a 2-0 lead. Trevor King made it 3-0 in the 39th minute with a goal off an assist from Tony Zapata.

Jump Rope for a New Heart April 22 in Tiffin

TIFFIN– Eric McClintock has lived his entire life with a complex heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries. Now 47, he is in need of a heart transplant. You can help raise money for Eric and his family during the fundraising event Jump Rope for a New Heart on Saturday, April 22, 10-11 a.m. at Drew Murphy Strength, 411 Greenfield Dr., Ste. 1B.
Each participant needs to find someone to “sponsor” him or her. The sponsor will donate an amount determined by the number of skips completed by the participant.

Spike to End Alzheimer’s at Throttle Down April 22

TIFFIN– Help support the 2017 RivALZ Female Flag Football Game by participating in an early season volleyball tournament Saturday, April 22, at Throttle Down Sports Bar & Grill, 607 E. Marengo Rd. All funds raised will be donated to the second annual RivALZ game benefiting the Alzhiemer’s Association.

CEDAR FALLS– The Iowa City West High Women of Troy tennis team remained undefeated after a pair of matches Saturday, April 15, in Waterloo and Cedar Falls. West High defeated Waterloo West, 9-0, and took down Cedar Falls, 5-1, after rain washed out doubles competition. The wins improved West High’s record to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC).
