Sept. is library card sign-up month it is the perfect time to sign-up for or card or celebrate all of the great ways to use the smartest card in your wallet. Here is a list of a few ways you can use you library card.

• Use a computer for a school project.
• Attend a library game night.
• Join LEGO® Club.
• Take advantage of free family movie nights, or simply check out a DVD to take home.
• Attend a family craft workshop, like Gingerbread House Night.

Archery Club open house Sept. 22

SOLON– The Solon Archery Club would like to invite the public to an open house to be held Monday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Solon United Methodist Church Family Life Center, located at 133 N. West St. in Solon. Information packets will be handed out at that time. Club members and coaches will offer demonstrations and address any questions from interested parties. Dance team needs your coupons

SOLON– It’s time to start clipping. The dance team is collecting coupons again for our overseas troops. The team will accept non-expired manufacturer coupons between now and March 2015. The dancers will clip, count and mail coupons to a naval base in Japan. If you have any manufacturer’s coupons, please send them to Solon High School attention Marjorie Lane or contact Marjorie at 319-624-3401, ext. 1116, or mlane@solon.k12.ia.us to schedule a drop off or pick up.

Construction on missing link to Linn County begins in 2015

SOLON– Runners, walkers, bicyclists and snowmobilers in Solon will soon be connected to the Cedar Valley Trail in Linn County by a new multi-use trail, said Supervisor John Etheredge at the Aug. 20 joint meeting between the Johnson County Board of Supervisors and the Solon City Council.
“We’re working on land acquisition and trail planning to bring that trail down from Linn County all the way into the City of Solon,” he said.

North Liberty: land to expand

$15.3 million wastewater expansion underway

NORTH LIBERTY– After just six years, North Liberty is facing another expansion of its wastewater treatment plant.
At its Aug. 12 meeting, the North Liberty City Council approved the purchase of 28.8 acres from Four D’s Acres, LLC. The $864,000 purchase– $30,000 per acre– of land east of the existing wastewater facility will accommodate the planned expansion, said North Liberty Wastewater Superintendent Dave Ramsey.

That’s why Tiffin administration and city council has already put in motion the process for addressing over-worked wastewater facilities.
