Community

CCA boundary committee charts its course

TIFFIN– The task is great, but the time is short for Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) enrollment and boundary study committee.
The members now ponder how to realign the district’s elementary school attendance areas ahead of a new elementary currently under construction in Tiffin. The committee, comprised of 16 members, held it’s first meeting Thursday, June 26, at the high school in Tiffin.

CCA requests reimbursement for “nonsufficient notice” by city

Boiling point

TIFFIN– A boil order in Tiffin caused a little bit of heat between the city and the school district this spring.
On May 28, the City of Tiffin issued an order for residents to boil drinking water due to work necessary to replace a mixing unit in the city’s water tower. The boil order was in effect until May 30.

$25.5 million decision

Middle school, performing arts center go to ballot - Sept. 9

SOLON– It’s official.
As expected, the Solon school board has decided to place a $25.5 million bond referendum for a new middle school and performing arts center before district voters.
At a June 26 meeting, school board members accepted a 220-signature petition signed by residents of the district, and passed a resolution calling for a Tuesday, Sept. 9, special election.
It was an action the district had been working toward for months.

Our Lord’s Church marks 10th anniversary

Happy Birthday, Our Lord’s Church!

SOLON– In 2004, a small group of residents gathered at the Solon Public Library for the first service of a new church community.
Two years later, the new church had its own building and had established a record of community service that it continues today.
Our Lord’s Church will mark the first decade of its existence Sunday, July 13, with a public celebration at its 131 N. Market St. location, serving brats, burgers and hot dogs after its weekly service. Potato salad, baked beans, lemonade and cake will also be served.
