2014 Hawkeye Football Schedule

Hawk Talk

By Don Lund
Sports Writer
When the football spring game is over in April, I have the month of May off for covering live Hawkeye sports.
June is the start of Prime Time and Game Time which goes through July.
Last week was the end of basketball coverage for the summer which means one thing... it’s time to talk football.
From now until October, it’s all football on Hawk Talk.
The next two weeks I’ll break down Iowa’s schedule and try to predict if the Hawks will be favored or not.
I really like the way the conference split.

Lady Spartans take second`

Dallas Center-Grimes holds Solon to one hit in 4A title game

FORT DODGE– One hit was not enough to win a championship.
The Solon Lady Spartans fell to No. 1-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes, 5-0, in the 4A softball championship Friday.
Solon’s powerful offense could muster only one hit against Dallas Center-Grimes pitcher Paige Lowary, and ended up toting the runner-up trophy off the Harlan Rogers Park diamond in Fort Dodge for the second time in three years.
It was the first shutout of the season for Solon.

North Liberty Leader
FORT DODGE– They ended up at the bottom of the brackets in the eighth-place slot, but for the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers, there was much to hold their heads high about looking at the 2014 season.
