Agnes Marie Irving, 103, died peacefully Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Solon Nursing Care Center.
Funeral Mass was celebrated May 10 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City with Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Wenceslaus Church, Iowa City Hospice or Solon Nursing Care Center. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.
Agnes was born Feb. 14, 1908, in Iowa City, the daughter of Henry and Frances (Schintler) Solnar. She was a graduate of City High School. On June 25, 1930, she married Robert Irving in Iowa City. Robert died in 1964.
Agnes was a lifelong member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Agnes was a Cubbie fan and liked Bush’s Baked Beans.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff at Solon Nursing Care Center for the care they provided to Agnes.
Agnes is survived by four children, Kenneth (Alvina) Irving, Jerry Irving and Delores Grauer, all of Iowa City and Barbara (Kenneth) Greiner of Keota; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, her son James, daughter-in-law Mary Irving and son-in-law Don Grauer; three sisters, Mabel Hulka, Gertrude Seemuth and Marian Lockhart.
