Area Chamber announces new board members
IOWA CITY– Three local business leaders have joined the Board of Directors of the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce. Larry Meyers, Johnson County Board of Supervisors, Kate Minette, Pearson, and Craig Willis, Security Abstract Corp., will lend their expertise to the policy-making body.
Born and raised in Dyersville, Iowa, Larry Meyers has lived in Johnson County for nearly 30 years. As a member of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors since January 2006, Mr. Meyers serves on a variety of County committees including Technology Plan – GIS, Safety and Information Services.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Meyers has owned a remodeling business, Meyers Contracting, Inc. He also serves on the Solon Beef Days Committee, helping plan the small town celebration for more than 10 years. He is an avid golfer, and in his spare time he can be found on the green or spending time with his adult son, Jordan.
Kathleen (Kate) Minette is presently Senior Vice President, Operations, Scoring, and Quality with Pearson. Her undergraduate degrees in sociology and journalism are from Drake University, and her masters in organizational communication is from the University of Northern Iowa.
Ms. Minette serves on the board of directors for the Cornell College Berry Center, Pomerantz Placement Center, Theatre Cedar Rapids and Waypoint Services. Ms. Minette is a life time certified Senior Professional in Human Resource Management, and has been a member of the Iowa City Area Chamber Education Committee, United Way Campaign leadership and board, and on Cedar Valley Hospice board.
Craig Willis is the owner of Security Abstract Corporation. He earned a bachelor’s of science in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University and a Juris Doctorate with high distinction from the University of Iowa.
Mr. Willis is very active in the community and has served on a variety of boards, including the Iowa City Community School District, Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa, Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County and Iowa City Hospice. In addition, he has served on the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Commission, Iowa City Riverfront Commission and the Iowa City Area Chamber Local Government Affairs Committee.
Mr. Willis lives in Iowa City with his wife Nancy.
