Beth A. Hrabak Smith, 52, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, in her Mount Vernon home with her family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 12 at St. John the Baptist Church, Mount Vernon, by the Rev. Jack Flaherty. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon. Beth is survived by her husband David of Mount Vernon, four children: Abigail (Colby) Newkirk of North Liberty, Alex Smith of Hiawatha, Jenna and Haley Smith both of Mount Vernon; two grandsons: Logan and Liam Newkirk; her father Dennis Hrabak of Cedar Rapids; three siblings: Nick (Dawn) Hrabak, Stacy (Bob) Davis, and Jeremy (Janet) Hrabak all of Cedar Rapids.
Beth was born March 11, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Dennis and Lorraine (Vosatka) Hrabak. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1979 and attended Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids. She married David Smith Jan. 20 1989 in Mount Vernon. Beth worked for the Tom Riley Law Firm, The Lynch, Dallas Law Firm, the Cedar Valley Humane Society, and Dr. Terry Moore DVM all of Cedar Rapids. Beth enjoyed being active in the Catholic Church, serving as a Sacristan and taking the Eucharist to the nursing home.
