Iowa opened the season Friday night with a 96-62 win over Chicago State.
Six players in double figures, 23 assists, seven blocked shots and only seven turnovers.
The Hawks shot 54.5 percent from 3-point range and had five more rebounds.
Jordan Bohannon had six assists, no turnovers and 12 points.
The twin towers (Luka Garza and Jack Nunge) combined for 26 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.
Luka played 18 minutes, Jack 19. Luka was named Big Ten Freshman of the week.
Everyone played, so Fran McCaffery got to see a lot of different combinations.
The Sunday game was another blowout, with the Hawks beating Alabama State 92-58.
Five players in double figures, including Cordell Pemsl with 15 off the bench.
The Hawkeyes have a lot of scoring options and will be a tough matchup defensively.
“Sometimes it’ll be our inside guys, sometimes it’ll be our 3-point shooters,” said coach McCaffery on who will lead Iowa in scoring.
The Hawkeye bench outscored Alabama State 49-4 as everyone played for the second straight game.

The men and women winning both basketball games plus the wrestlers had a good showing at Luther helped a little to take the sting out of the football loss… but not much.
Both teams showed depth and a lot of scoring options.
The football loss is such a head-scratcher.
