Bolts and Creek Girls garner more honors

2020 Iowa Girls Coaches Association Volleyball Teams announced

IOWA CITY– Eight local high school student athletes were named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s (IGCA) 2020 All-District, Senior All-Stars and Academic All-Stars teams.
Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) Calia Clubb and Hailey Pollock were named to the Class 4A SE All-District Team. Clubb, a junior, also earned an Honorable Mention spot on the Class 4A All-State Team after leading the Clippers with 243 kills. Pollock, a senior, produced 221 kills this season.
Liberty High’s Cassidy Hartman, Haley Hested and Shelby Kimm were named to the Class 5A East All-District Team. Hartman, a sophomore, led the Lightning with 338 kills and was named to the All-State Elite Team, and the 2020 Class 5A All-State First Team. Hested, a senior, earned 2020 Class 5A All-State Team Honorable Mention with 476 assists, while sophomore Kimm was named to the All-State Second Team with 194 kills this season. Liberty senior and Lightning libero Addison Schmierer was named to the Senior All-Stars Team and produced 258 digs for the Bolts.
Schmierer, Gracie Gingerich and Hannah Vogts were named to the Academic All-Stars Team, while Coach Randy Dolson was named Coach of the Year for the 5A All-State Team and the 5A East All-District Team. In his fourth year at Liberty, Dolson led the Bolts to a 6-0 record in the Mississippi Valley Conference– Mississippi Division, and a 24-3 record overall. Dolson also led Liberty to its second consecutive state tournament appearance, culminating in the program’s first state runner-up trophy after falling, 3-1, to Ankeny in the 5A championship match.
