Mustangs gallop away from Creek Boys

INDEPENDENCE– Darius Moore’s 28 points weren’t enough to carry the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity boys past the Mustangs of Independence on the hardwood Friday, Feb. 2, in the Mustangs’ stable. Independence took the contest 81-68, dropping CCA to 6-11 while improving to 11-7. It was the second time this season Indee had gotten the best of the Creek Boys, also winning 72-66 in Tiffin on Jan. 9.
The Clippers kept it close in the first period, trailing by only one point, 19-18 at the end of the quarter. However, Indee charged ahead to a 41-32 lead at halftime and never looked back. The Mustangs held a 67-50 advantage going into the final quarter.
Nolan Schwarting had a dozen points for the Creek Boys with 10 points from Jordan Wolfe. Moore not only led the Clippers in points scored, but also in rebounds with 11.
