CCA net set wins 3-2 over CPU
TIFFIN– It took five games to do it, but the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity volleyball squad got the best of the Stormin’ Pointers of Center Point-Urbana. The Creek girls won 3-2, improving their record to 5-2-0.
Amy Kalkhoff led in kills with 17 out of 35 attacks; Maliah Fligg made 14 out of 39 attempts and Alyssa Weldon, a freshman, made 12 of 24. Fligg had 26 assists while Kate Hergert had 24. Kalkhoff led in digs with 26, Michelle Lutz had 23, Hergert made 17 and Fligg had 10. Natalie Brimeyer led in total blocks with four on the night. Hanna Stokes led in serves, making 18 of 19 with five aces. Fligg had three aces in her 11 (of 14) serves, Hergert made 13 of 14, Kalkhoff had a pair of aces in her 16 of 17 and Lutz made 11 out of 12 serves. Tara Walls also had a pair of aces as she went 13 for 16 in serving.
Grace Chabal had a pair of kills, Liz Hergert had a pair of digs and Lauren Stopko came up with nine digs on the evening.
The Clippers will compete in the Lisbon Tournament Saturday, Sept. 15, with a 9 a.m. start time and will face Williamsburg at home on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The full evening starts at 5 p.m. with ninth, 10th, junior varsity and varsity all in action.
