Charlotte L. (Johnson) Wohlenberg, 79, of Iowa City, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at Windmill Manor in Coralville.
A casual gathering of family and friends was held June 14 at First Christian Church in Coralville with remarks by Rev. John McKinstry. Memorial contributions in Charlotte’s name can be made to the U of I Foundation for use with the MacBride Raptor Project (MRP) to help support the raptor center which Charlotte and her family spent so much time enjoying. Charlotte L. Johnson was born July 10, 1933, in Iowa City, daughter of Merrill and Edna (Harding) Johnson. She graduated from City High School and on Sept. 15, 1950, married Donald L. Wohlenberg in Iowa City. Though they spent some time out West, Iowa City has always been home. She worked for many years as a histology technician with Medlabs at the University of Iowa.
Her family includes her husband, Donald; daughter, Becky (Kent) Pearson of North Liberty; sisters, Meryl Ann “Oney” Johnson of Coralville and Betty Jo Johnson of Iowa City; grandchildren, Melissa (Gabe) Isbell and Shannon (Patrick) Cutsforth; great-grandchildren, Forest, Willow and Asher Isbell and nephew, Michael Rafferty.
