Western Dubuque knocks CCA out of tournament chase
Bobcats topple Creek Girls, 3-0

TIFFIN– The 2016 varsity season has ended for the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) volleyball girls. Western Dubuque’s Bobcats took a Class 4A regional quarterfinal match, 3-0, Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Tiffin. The Bobcats advanced to the semifinal round with the win.
Western Dubuque took the first set, 25-13; the Creek Girls did a little better in the second set but still fell, 25-17; and sank 25-13 in the third and final set. Shauntina Williams led the Creek Girls with six kills, Lauren Helle made five, Sheyanne Koethe came up with 20 digs, Zoey Boehme made 10 assists and Riley Hennes had seven assists.
The Clippers finished the season with a 21-20 overall record.
It was the final match for seniors Koethe, McKenna McCreedy, Alivia Carnahan, Jacquelyn Bunch, Helle, Hanna Rogge and Mackenzie Justice.

Four Creek Girls earn WaMaC honors
Koethe named to West Division First Team

TIFFIN– Four members of Clear Creek Amana (CCA) High School’s varsity volleyball team were named to WaMaC Conference All-Division First, Second and Honorable Mention teams for their performance in the 2016 season. The selections were announced Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The Clippers’ Sheyanne Koethe (First Team), Lauren Helle (Second Team), McKenna McCreedy (Honorable Mention) and Shauntina Williams (Honorable Mention) were selected. The Creek Girls finished the regular season at 21-19 overall and 3-4 in WaMaC Conference competition.
Marion’s Roxanne Paulsen was named the West Division Coach of the Year and her Indians won the division with a 32-9 record overall and 7-0 conference standing.

First Team: Sheyanne Koethe (senior) – 19 kills, 47 ace serves, 22 assists, 625 digs.
Second Team: Lauren Helle (senior) – 241 kills, .227 kills per game, 37 digs, 42 block assists, 22 solo blocks, .60 blocks per set.
Honorable Mention: McKenna McCreedy (senior) – five kills, 19 ace serves, six assists, 179 digs. Shauntina Williams (sophomore) – 283 kills, 2.75 kills per set, 17 ace serves, 1 assist four block assists, six solo blocks.

Creek Girls dominate at Dunkerton
CCA goes undefeated in Raiders’ tourney

DUNKERTON– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity volleyball squad dominated the Dunkerton Raiders’ Tournament Saturday, Sept. 24, by winning all five matches and 10 of 11 sets.
The Clippers wiped out West Hancock 2-0 (21-4, 21-11) with six kills and four ace serves from Shauntina Williams and eight assists from Zoey Boehme. The host Raiders took the first set against the Creek Girls, but CCA rallied back to a 2-1 win (13-21, 21-15, 15-8). Williams made nine kills, Boehme had 14 assists, Sheyanne Koethe made 26 digs and Lauren Helle came up with three blocks.
The Creek Girls powered by Waterloo Christian 2-0 (21-7, 21-8) with seven kills from Helle, six assists by Boehme and five assists from Riley Hennes. Turkey Valley fell in two sets to CCA (21-7, 21-8) with 10 kills from Williams, eight kills by Helle, 11 assists from Hennes, 10 assists from Boehme and 15 digs from Koethe. Helle also made a pair of blocks, as did Claire Schwarting. The Creek Girls bumped off Van Buren, 2-0, as well (21-14, 21-8) with seven kills apiece from Williams and Helle, 11 assists from Boehme and three aces from Hennes.
