Clipper girls fifth at Districts
MT. PLEASANT– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) girls’ track and field team will be represented in Des Moines next weekend at the 2011 State Co-Ed Meet. The combined track meet will be held May 19-21 at Drake Stadium.
Jasmine Smith earned the 17th seeded slot at State with her third place finish in the District Meet’s 100-meter hurdles. Smith cleared the obstructions in 16.94 seconds. Tara Walls won the discus throw with her 119-07.50 effort, earning the 10th seed while Mara Jones took second with a 119-07.00 toss. Jones is seeded 11th for the State competition. Jones will also hurl the shot put as the No. 10 seed based on her fourth place finish at District. Jones threw 37-01.00.
Amy Brant, Tara Walls, Kate Hergert and Mariah McKinnon teamed up for the 4x200 meter relay, finishing third in 1:49.98; they earned the 13th seed for State.

800-meter sprint medley relay: Celine Fender, Emma Yansky, Kate Hergert and Amy Brant, fourth, 1:56.72.
Distance medley relay: Tyhesia Simpson, Kara Brant, Michkayla Bunch and Alyssa Francisco, sixth, 4:39.79.
4x100-meter shuttle hurdle relay: Jasmine Smith, Amy Kalkhoff, Celine Fender and Emma Yansky, fourth, 1:10.56.
High jump: Amy Kalkhoff, fifth, 4-10.00.
Long jump: Kara Brant, fifth
Solon won the meet with 190 team points followed by Mt. Pleasant, Fairfield and Washington. The Clippers finished fifth with 83 points.
