Clippers volleyball sweeps South Tama

TAMA– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) varsity volleyball team extended its winning streak to seven matches and improved its record to 18-6-0 with a 3-0 road sweep of the South Tama County Trojans Tuesday, Oct. 14.
The Clippers took the first set 25-15 before cruising through the second and third sets 25-7 and 25-7.
Natalie Brimeyer led the CCA attack with 14 kills and three ace serves while making 18 digs as well. Alyssa Weldon had six kills, three aces and 16 assists, Dacia Lipkea made five kills and had seven digs and Ashley Prusha made four kills and had a pair of ace serves. Lauren Stopko made 21 digs, Sheyanne Koethe made eight with one assist, Lauren Helle had a solo block and McKenzie Fuller had 10 assists and went 10-for-10 in serves.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union had the Clippers in the number five spot in its eighth Class 4A rankings of the season. Harlan was the number one team in the state in 4A followed by West Delaware, Marion and Sioux City Bishop Heelan.
The squad has a first round bye in regional action on the road toward Cedar Rapids and the state tournament, and will play in the regional semifinal Thursday, Oct. 30, at home against either Fort Madison or Keokuk. The winner advances to the regional final on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in Marengo. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
