Community Foundation online grant applications open, due September 14
IOWA CITY– The Community Foundation of Johnson County (CFJC) has opened its online grant applications process for the 2013 fiscal year.
Grants may be submitted for programming or capital projects in five focus categories: arts, culture and humanities; education; health / human services; environment / animals; and public / societal benefit. The grant application deadline is Friday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m.
Nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations can apply for grants by visiting the Community Foundation’s website at www.communityfoundationofjohnsoncounty.org and click on Grants from the Endowment.
The Community Foundation continues to update its online grant application and review process. Applicants will be assigned a password when they begin that allows them to complete the application at a later time if they are interrupted. Budget and financial information must be submitted with the application.
Following an assessment and committee review, an announcement and presentation awards will be made in January 2013.

In its 10-year history, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $3.4 million in grants, and administers $8.95 million in endowment assets and $5.45 million in legacy bequests. Additionally, the Community Foundation has encouraged nearly $602,423 in in-kind support and more than 31,860 volunteer hours to support philanthropic efforts. The Foundation delivers service for 58 agencies and 104 charitable-giving and endowed funds at a cost of only 1.249 percent to accomplish its goal to grow endowments for the greater community good.
