Council Candidate Forum in Tiffin Thursday, Nov. 2

TIFFIN– The League of Women Voters of Johnson County (LWVJC) will hold a Council Candidate Forum, in Tiffin, on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 7–8:30 p.m., at the City Hall, 300 Railroad St.
Declared candidates have been invited to participate in the forum. Mayor Steve Berner is unopposed in seeking re-election to a two-year term. Five candidates are seeking a four-year term for city council: James Bartels (incumbent), Al Havens (incumbent), Joan Kahler (incumbent), Royce Phillips and Eric Schnedler.
League member Linda Levey will moderate the Council Candidate Forum. Council candidates will have opportunities to introduce themselves at each forum. Audience members attending the forum may pose questions written on cards for the panel.
LWVJC Board President Syndy Conger noted two Johnson County towns asked the League to host candidate forums. “Each year, the League of Women Voters hosts public forums to inform voters and the public about important issues and elections impacting our communities. An informed electorate is very important to our democracy. We are enthused to offer a Council Candidate Forum in Tiffin for residents.”
