On Wednesday, July 24, 2013, Dwight H. Marine died at his home in Amherst, Mass. after a two-year struggle with cancer.
Dwight Howard Marine was born Oct. 6, 1955, in Iowa City to Mabel Elizabeth Coxon Marine and the late Leroy Donald Marine. He graduated from Lone Tree Community High School; Kirkwood Community College; and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Dwight worked for the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority for over a quarter of a century and his final position was that of supervisor.
He married Touch Heav on Feb. 7, 1987, in Amherst, who survives him along with their daughters Hanna Marine and Sophia Marine; son Sokem Mang, daughter-in-law Laty Mang, grandsons Mureno and Shane; and mother-in-law Lap Bou, all of Amherst. He is also survived by his mother Mabel Marine of Lone Tree; sisters Nancy (Najeeb) Khan of Michigan and Patsy (Ricardo) Munoz of California; brothers Wendell of California and Leonard (Sherri) of North Liberty. An extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Services were held at the Cambodian Buddhist Temple in Leverett, Mass. on July 27 and at Douglass Funeral Services, Amherst, Mass. on July 28.
