Four Clippers earn WaMaC baseball honors

TIFFIN– Four Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity baseball players earned WaMaC conference All-Division Baseball honors. The 2016 selections announced Thursday, July 21, included Benton Community’s Derek Anderson picking up Coach of the Year honors for the West Division, which is home to CCA.
Jake Neubauer was the sole Clipper to earn First Team honors while Robby Swails was a Second Team pick and Kobey Schlotman and Grayson Rotter both earned Honorable Mention.
Neubauer, a senior, put in nine appearances on the mound for 56-2/3 innings with a 4-5 record. He gave up 26 earned runs for an ERA of 3.21, walked nine and struck out 48. In the field, he made 47 outs with a .928 fielding percentage while he hit with a .396 batting average. He had 55 hits on the season with seven doubles, 25 runs scored and 32 RBI. In addition, he stole base five times.
Swails, a senior, had five starts and nine appearances total on the mound with a 1-4 record over 28-2/3 innings. He gave up 13 earned runs for a 3.17 ERA, walked 19 and struck out 26. In the field, he made 15 outs with a .764 fielding percentage. At bat, he hit with a .328 batting average for 41 hits, including eight doubles, one triple and three home runs. He scored 22 runs and batted in 19 more. In addition, Swails stole 18 bases.
Schlotman, a junior, had 20 hits this season with a .263 average. He knocked a pair of doubles and one triple, scored 18 runs and batted in 14 more. He also had seven stolen bases. He made nine appearances on the mound with eight starts and a 5-2 record over 46-1/3 innings. He gave up 13 earned runs with a 1.96 ERA, walked 11 and struck out 35. In the field, he made 54 outs with a .956 fielding percentage.
Rotter, a junior, had seven starts on the mound for the Clippers with a 1-6 record over 44-2/3 innings. He gave up 28 earned runs for a 4.39 ERA, walked three and struck out 18. At bat, he hit with a .238 batting average good for 31 hits including five doubles. He scored 21 runs, drove in 16 more and had four stolen bases. He made 27 outs with a .864 fielding percentage, as well.
