Gardening books displayed
To accompany the display window, a display of gardening books has been arranged nearby. Through the year, the Solon Garden Club purchased and donated many editions covering all areas of lawn and garden, landscaping and plantings. Five new books recently arrived. The love of gardening will strike any age. To get your child or grandchild interested, pick up “Ultimate Step-by-Step Kids First Gardening Book.” This book is created with the five to 12 year age group in mind. Perfect for guiding one through a Scout merit badge or a first 4-H project, this book is delightful. “Mini Farming– Self Sufficiency On 1/4 Acre” by Brett Markham tells how to start a mini farm on a quarter acre or less and provide 85 percent of the food for a family of four and earn additional income. Author Ivette Soler has the solution for mowing the front lawn with her new book, “The Edible Front Yard: The Mow– Less, Grow– More Plan for a Beautiful, Bountiful Garden.” “Garden Up! Smart Vertical Gardening for Small and Large Spaces” by Susan Morrison and Rebecca Sweet is filled with design tips, plant ideas and over 200 photos. Lastly, “Grow Great Grub: Organic Food from Small Spaces by Gayla Trail shows you how to grow your own delicious, organic edibles anywhere. The beautiful photographs and wonderful ideas in gardening books makes them a great way to pass a winter afternoon– whether planting a garden in the soil, or only in your mind.
