Genevieve M. “Ginger” Reiland, 86, of Iowa City died peacefully Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at East Towne Care Center in Independence.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 18 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
Ginger was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Riverside, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Kolar) Kron. She was a 1943 graduate of City High School. During World War II, Ginger was employed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., as a secretary. On Dec. 30, 1946, Ginger married Raymond M. Reiland, and of their union was born six children.
Ginger was the Deputy Clerk of Court in Johnson County for many years, retiring in 1988. She was the past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Johnson County Legal Secretaries Association.
Ginger is survived locally by a son Michael (Karen) Reiland of Solon.
