Girl Scouts host card-making class Nov. 11 at NL Community Center
NORTH LIBERTY– Get into the mood for the holidays and sign up now for a greeting card making class at the North Liberty Community Center. Spend an afternoon stamping with your friends and members of North Liberty Girl Scout Troop 1322. The class will be held Sunday, Nov. 11, from 1 until 4 p.m. in Gerdin Room 3 at the North Liberty Community Center, 520 W. Cherry St. Registration and prepayment of $25 is required.
All profits will be used to offset the cost of a trip to be taking by four members of the troop, along with troop leader Heidi Parker, who will travel east next summer as part of the 2013 National Trip sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. The girls will visit Washington, D.C., New York City and Philadelphia to see important historical and cultural sites like Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian museums, the Statue of Liberty and Broadway.
Lisa Irving, a Stampin’ Up demonstrator and mother of one of the girls attending the trip, will lead the Nov. 11 class. Attendees will make two sets of four all-occasion cards and four holiday gift tags. Beverages and snacks will be provided, and names will be drawn for door prizes.
“The girls have been working hard at fundraising to offset the costs of this trip, which will take place next year,” said Irving. “The trip will be amazing for its educational aspects for these girls.”
