H1N1 vaccine providers open eligibility

IOWA CITY– As of Monday, Dec. 14, the Iowa Department of Public Health opened eligibility for 2009 H1N1 vaccinations to all persons and not just those in the priority groups. While everyone is now eligible and all are encouraged to get a 2009 H1N1 vaccination, Johnson County Public Health officials stress the importance of those in the priority groups to get vaccinated. A third wave of the H1N1 pandemic is expected and those persons most vulnerable to severe complications due to influenza need to be protected. Parents are also reminded that all children 9 years of age and younger need to receive two doses of vaccine in order to be fully protected. For the convenience of the public, JCPH has been working to get doctors and pharmacies in the county signed up as H1N1 vaccine providers. Below is a current list of providers. You may get a 2009 H1N1 vaccination at the following doctors’ offices if you are an established patient:

Johnson County Public Health will be offering 2009 H1N1 vaccinations to the uninsured or those who otherwise do not have access to vaccinations. Starting Dec. 30, clinics will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. by appointment only. Call 688-5894 to make an appointment.
A list of 2009 H1N1 vaccination sites will be available and updated on Johnson County Public Health’s website: www.johnson-county.comhealth. Please check the site often as new providers are expected over the next few weeks.
