Highway 1 accident hospitalizes motorists
JOHNSON COUNTY– A vehicle crash on Highway 1 north of Solon on Tuesday, July 26, sent four people to the hospital, including two young girls.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that 63-year-old Christopher Ewer, of Albuquerque, N.M., was southbound on Highway 1 near Seven Sisters Road, when the 2010 Winnebago RV he was driving went out of control and rolled to its side. A northbound Buick Rendezvous, driven by 40-year-old Karla Kruse of New Vienna, Iowa, hit the RV after Kruse tried to swerve to miss the tipped RV but was unable to avoid the collision. Kruse’s vehicle rolled into the east ditch.
According to the report, Ewer, Kruse, and her two passengers, 12-year-old Laura Kruse and 7-year-old Molly Kruse, were all transported to the University of Iowa by ambulance for treatment of injuries. All four were reported to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
