ICCSD announces classroom technology campaign
IOWA CITY– The ICCSD Foundation, in partnership with the Iowa City Community School District, is currently in the silent phase of a $2 million dollar campaign raising money to equip all of the approximately 800 classrooms with basic 21st Century technology: an interactive SmartBoard, multi-media projector and a document camera; plus the necessary training for all the teachers. The foundation has already raised over $1.4 million through private donations and community support.
The Every Classroom campaign is set to go public at a press conference launch event scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 9 a.m. held at the Educational Services Center located at 1725 N. Dodge St.
The fundraising began in earnest this summer and has been driven by teams of volunteers out asking for support. The primary goal of the campaign is to ensure that every child in Every Classroom has every opportunity.
“Technology is a vital part of our lives today– it’s been a part of our student’s entire life. Utilizing the advantages of technology in our teaching environments is instrumental for today’s learning and our goal is to ensure all of our kids have access to these tools,” said Susan Brennan, the ICCSD Foundation campaign manager.
