Iowa City man accused of sexually abusing young girl

NORTH LIBERTY– According to a complaint filed by North Liberty police, an Iowa City man is accused of sexually abusing a young girl.
Trystian James Escher, 20, was allegedly babysitting at a residence in North Liberty in mid-December when the incident took place. The report identifies the victim as a female under the age of 12.
The defendant, who was arrested Dec. 21, admitted to committing the act– according to the complaint– and faces one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. He is being held at the Johnson County Sheriff’s office with a bond amount of $50,000.
According to Iowa court records, Escher was charged and plead guilty to fifth-degree theft in January 2014.
