J-Hawks one better than Trojans last week in Iowa City , with Jefferson 8, West High 7

IOWA CITY– The Cedar Rapids Jefferson J-Hawks got past the West High Trojans Monday, June 18, on West’s diamond, winning 8-7 in varsity action.
The J-Hawks opened the game with two runs in the first, five in the fourth and one in the seventh. West answered with three runs in their half of the first inning, three in the third and one in the fourth. Nick Grimsman put up a triple in the game while Ezra Reiners and Devin Raffenserger had a double each. Base hits came off the bats of Raffenserger and Kellen Yoder (two). Tanner Wilson, Reid Bonner, Raffenserger and Yoder drove in RBIs with two for Bonner.
On the mound, Luke Crimmins and Tyus Adkins shared pitching duties with Crimmins working 3.1 innings, and 3.2 for Adkins. Crimmins gave up 11 hits and seven earned runs while striking-out seven and walking one. Crimmins threw 94 pitches. Adkins gave up four hits and one earned run, struck-out five and walked nobody. Adkins threw 53 pitches.
For West: 8 hits, 7 runs, 0 errors, 6 left on base.
For Jefferson: 15 hits, 8 runs, 3 errors, 8 left on base.
