Janet A. (Young) Miller, 66, of Swisher, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at the Dennis Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial services were held Nov. 3 at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids by Pastor Dan Clark-Bridges. Arrangements were by Murdoch-Linwood Funereal Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Trent and Ida “Hays” Miller of Forest City, N.C.; her mother, Arlene Young-Casner of Swisher; a brother, Bruce and Joyce Young Jr. of Swisher; two sisters, Karen and Harlan Bean of Ringwood, Ill., and Sue Ann and Pat Frasher of Worthington; former daughter-in-law, Elizabeth “BeBe” Miller of Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Lila and Maxwell Miller.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce “Frankie;” and her husband, Steve.
Janet was born Aug. 22, 1945, the daughter of Bruce and Arlene (Hepker) Young Sr., in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1963. She married Stephen Miller on Dec. 1, 1962. Janet returned to Iowa in the fall of 2006 to care for her mother.
Janet was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, caring for her plants, working outside, and music.
